We’re happy to unveil the new St Kilda Road Campus Visual Arts and Design Precinct in the former Royal Victorian Institute of the Blind bluestone heritage listed building, following a 15 month redevelopment.

The Precinct will breathe new life into the historic building, with state-of-the-art learning spaces for Middle and Senior School students designed by FMSA Architecture, including specialised art, photography and lighting, 3D printing and sculpture studios.

Principal Dr Helen Drennen, says the opening of the new Visual Arts and Design Precinct is historic for the College.

“The opening of our Visual Arts and Design Precinct adjacent to the St Kilda Road Campus links the two sites both established in 1866.

“We are very pleased with the design from FMSA Architecture, which has restored the original features - with stained glass windows and large vaulted ceilings creating an aesthetically engaging space for students in a contemporary way.

“The redevelopment is itself a work of art. It features multi-purpose classrooms, four specialist studio spaces, an art book library and an exhibition foyer to display students’ work,” she said.
