General Excellence Scholarships

General Excellence Scholarships (typically up to 50% of annual tuition fees) are awarded to students entering Years 5 - 12 who are able to demonstrate outstanding abilities in a number of areas such as sport, the Arts, leadership and academic achievement. Preference is given to families whose financial need is greater. Please note that students may apply for either the General Excellence Scholarship or R.G. Menzies Scholarship, not both.

There is an Application Fee of AUD$100 which is waived for current Wesley students and children of Old Collegians.

When and how do I apply for a General Excellence Scholarship?

Students can apply up until March in the year prior to their proposed year of entry. Application forms are available to print from the College website and need to be completed and returned in hard copy to us prior to the closing date for consideration. Applications open on the College website from mid-November to early March in the year prior to entry.

How much does it cost to apply for a General Excellence Scholarship?

The application fee for the General Excellence Scholarships are $100.

The application fee is waived if you are a current Wesley student or a direct family member of an Old Wesley Collegian as noted on the application form.

What are the selection criteria for General Excellence Scholarships?

General Excellence Scholarships are assessed on the following five categories:

  • Academic record
  • Sporting achievements
  • Participation and achievements in the arts (music, performance, fine art)
  • Leadership and community service
  • Contribution to the College/current school

Is there academic testing required for General Excellence Scholarships?

No, academic testing is not required for General Excellence Scholarships however, we do require a copy of recent School reports and NAPLAN test results.

When will I be advised whether my child has been successful?

Students that are shortlisted and fulfil the above criteria will be required to attend an interview with the relevant Head of Campus, who will, at their discretion make the final decision to offer a General Excellence Scholarship to the student. This process may take a few of weeks and a letter will be sent to all applicants advising of the outcome of their application prior to the end of Term 1.

Can the school provide feedback on how my child can improve their application for future years?

The College can provide general feedback on the application as requested.

Can I apply for more than one scholarship type at Wesley?

Yes you may apply for a number of different scholarships at Wesley however, you may only apply for one of either the R.G Menzies or General Excellence Scholarships.
