Elsternwick Language Scholarships


Wesley College, Elsternwick campus, offers Language Scholarships for NEW students who can demonstrate commitment and passion to learning and developing proficiency in languages. 

Preference is given to families who can demonstrate that they would not be able to attend Wesley College without the financial support of a Scholarship.

The scholarship is tenable:
  • To Year 4 (for recipients starting in Prep to Year 2)
  • To Year 6 (for recipients starting in Year 2 to Year 4)

When and how do I apply for an Elsternwick Language Scholarship?

Applications are currently open for both 2019 and 2020 entry and application forms are available to print from our website. Once completed, please return by email to scholarships@wesleycollege.net 

Step 1. 

Download and complete the application form. There is no application fee for the Elsternwick Language Scholarship.

Step 2. 

Attach the following required documents relating to the applicant;
most recent school report (if of Primary School age), NAPLAN (as applicable) and recent photograph

Step 3. 

Scan and email your complete application in Adobe PDF Format to scholarships@wesleycollege.net (Please note the file limit is 20MB and that ONLY the most recent School Report, AEAS test, students passport, Visa and recent Photograph of the student are required at application stage. (Extra supporting documents will not be considered).

Please note: No hard copy applications will be accepted. Also, please do not submit your application unless you have all the required supporting documents mentioned above.

What is the selection criteria for the Elsternwick Language Scholarship? 

Elsternwick Language Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the Principal to new (Australian Citizen/ Permanent Resident) students and are assessed on a combination of the following:

  • Candidates need to demonstrate passion or potential for developing their language skills and levels of proficiency in language 
  • The family’s valuing of language learning is essential, as is their explicit support for and encouragement of language experiences.
  • A commitment and interest in language learning is also important  
  • Interview with the Head of Campus and Head of Junior School
How many Elsternwick Language Scholarships does Wesley award each year and what is each scholarship worth? 

Wesley awards a significant number of scholarships each year. The number and value of scholarships allocated is determined by the quality of applicants and the availability of places. Typically, scholarships will be awarded as a 50% reduction of tuition fees.

Does Wesley award full scholarships? 

No, Wesley does not offer full scholarships.
How much does it cost to apply for an Elsternwick Language Scholarship?

There is no application fee. 

Is there academic testing required for the Elsternwick Language Scholarship?

Academic testing is not required. The success of attaining a Language Scholarship is based on application with supporting documentation and an interview with Head of Campus and Head of Junior School.  

What is the process and when will I be advised whether my child has been successful?

Following application, candidates may be invited for an interview within two weeks of submission. 

If my child is successful, what is the process to accept a scholarship offer at Wesley?

To accept your child’s scholarship offer you will be required to pay a $1200 Confirmation Fee. This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. 

How will I know you have received my child’s application? 

You will receive an acknowledgement email from an Admissions staff member. 

Can I apply for more than one scholarship type at Wesley?

Yes, you can apply for several different scholarships at Wesley. However, if you apply for the General Excellence Scholarship, you cannot apply for a Middle School Expansion Scholarship or R.G. Menzies Scholarship.
