Academic Scholarships

Applications for Academic Scholarships for 2020 have now closed.

Testing date: Saturday 9 February 2019 

Testing Venue: Glen Waverley Campus (for Glen Waverley Applicants) & St Kilda Road Campus (for St Kilda Road and Elsternwick applicants) 

Academic Scholarships are awarded for students entering Years 5, 7 and 10 in 2020. Scholarship allocations are based on the results of an examination held early in the year prior to entry, when a student is in Years 4, 6 or 9. 

Please note: 

  • All Academic Scholarship applications (for new and current students) incur a non-refundable $100 application fee. 
  • All applicants are only permitted to submit one Academic Scholarship application for one campus. 


When and how do I apply for an Academic Scholarship? 

Applicants need to register for the Academic Scholarship test via the links above. 2020 entry applicants will sit for the Academic Scholarship test in February 2019. 

Can I apply for more than one Scholarship type at Wesley? 

Yes, you can apply for a number of different scholarships at Wesley. However, if you apply for the R.G. Menzies scholarship you cannot apply for a General Excellence or Middle School Expansion Scholarship. 

Can my child take a practice test?

Can I sit for an Academic Scholarship test remotely if I live interstate or overseas? 

The Remote Testing Service is only available to students who are living and studying interstate, overseas or remote from the testing school. Please visit the EduTest website for more information: https://www.edutest.com.au/contact.htm 

What if my child is unwell for testing day? 

Please contact Edutest directly on 9014 1411 to discuss alternative options and please be aware that a medical certificate will be required. 

Will I receive my child’s test result at the completion of the process? 

Your child’s test results will be sent to you at the completion of the process (Term 2, 2019) with a letter advising you of the outcome of your application. 

Can my child apply again in the future if they are unsuccessful? 

Yes, provided they will be entering Year 5, Year 7 or Year 10. 

Can the school provide feedback on how my child can improve their application for future years? 

Due to the high volume of test takers, the College does not provide feedback on academic test results, nor provide feedback on areas which could be improved. 

How many Academic Scholarships does Wesley award each year and what is each scholarship worth?

Wesley awards a significant number of scholarships each year. The number and value of scholarships allocated is determined by the quality of applicants and the availability of places. Typically, Scholarships will be awarded as a 50% reduction of tuition fees (up until Year 12, based on an annual review). 

If my child is successful, what is the process to accept a scholarship offer at Wesley? 

To accept your child’s scholarship offer you will be required to pay a $1200 Confirmation Fee. This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
